The Care Behind the Treatment
Massage therapy at Compassioknot Touch is backed by extensive education in anatomy, assessment, soft-tissue treatment and whole-body mechanics. I graduated with honours from a 2,200-hour Registered Massage Therapy program and have continued my education in orthopedic massage, CranioSacral Therapy, and other hands-on approaches. My osteopathic education also influences the way I understand movement, compensation and the relationships between different areas of the body.
That means your treatment is never just a sequence of massage techniques. Every pressure, movement and contact is chosen with intention, whether the goal is relaxation, reducing tension, supporting recovery or addressing a specific area of concern. Massage works with the muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues of the body while also offering an opportunity for the nervous system to settle and the body to decompress.

Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage uses long, smooth, flowing strokes to help your body and mind unwind. The main goal is to calm your nervous system, reduce stress, and promote an overall sense of peace and well-being. This style of massage focuses less on working out deep knots and more on helping you fully relax and recharge.

Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is a broad term that refers to any massage technique used to address specific concerns such as pain, injury, or postural imbalances. This may include issues like plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, or general muscle discomfort. While therapeutic massage is sometimes assumed to mean deep or intense pressure, that isn’t always the case. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, using the techniques and pressure that will be most effective and comfortable for you.
-
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is often mistaken for simply using very firm pressure, but it’s really about working thoughtfully with the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. This type of massage can be especially helpful for addressing scar tissue, improving circulation, and relieving chronic tension. However, deeper work doesn’t always mean harder pressure. Addressing the surface layers first is essential, and sometimes a lighter, more precise approach is exactly what your body needs. The goal is always to apply the right techniques and pressure to best support your healing on that day.

Orthopedic Massage
Orthopedic massage is a type of injury rehabilitation that focuses on the muscles, joints and soft tissues surrounding joints. The aim of orthopedic massage is to relieve pain while restoring balance to the tissues and creating a fuller range of motion.
This training is incorporated into treatment when appropriate to support your individual goals.
